Drs. Lily Rajic (Project 5) and Rachel Grashow (Core A) represented PROTECT at the Superfund Research Program meeting held on November 10th at the EPA Region 1 office in Boston, MA. Along with five other Region 1 universities (Boston University, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Brown University, Dartmouth College and MIT), Rajic gave a short talk highlighting PROTECT’s aims and achievements.
The conference included welcoming remarks from Deb Szaro (Deputy Regional Administrator for Region 1), an overview of the Superfund Research Program from Heather Henry (Health Science Administrator at NIEHS), and a panel discussion on the Callahan Mine Superfund Site. This event underscored the need for collaboration between university SRPs and governmental agencies in research and remediation efforts taking place at Superfund sites.
