PROTECT Project 1 Leader Prof. John Meeker of the University of Michigan has joined the Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) for The National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATDSR). These partner organizations function under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and worked together to establish the BSC in 2004, enlisting experts respected in their fields to advise the CDC in the pursuit of institute goals. The BSC also provides guidance to NCEH/ATSDR staff on ensuring scientific quality, timeliness, utility, and the dissemination of findings.

In addition to being a member of the BSC and leader of PROTECT’s Project 1, Meeker is a Professor of Environmental Health Sciences and a Senior Associate Dean for Research in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.
