On February 17th and 18th, 2017, over 75 PROTECT and CRECE researchers, trainees, administrators, advisers, colleagues, and guests from across mainland U.S. and Puerto Rico gathered in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the PROTECT/CRECE Annual Retreat. The event was held at the Condado Plaza Hilton and featured presentations sharing team progress from the leaders of each project and core. Following each presentation, Scientific Advisory Committee members in attendance (see full list below) provided valuable guidance, advice, and assessment for the projects, cores, and center.

The retreat also included a brief introduction by Dr. Heather Henry of NIEHS/SRP in which she shared some updates on the Superfund Research Program.

On the evening of the first night of the retreat, the PROTECT and CRECE team hosted a recognition ceremony for community members and clinics that have been instrumental in advancing both centers’ work in Puerto Rico. The ceremony brought together community partners, researchers, scientific advisory committee members, and staff. Thank you to all that participated in this event!
