Dec 4, 2017 | Project 4 (Green Remediation)

PROTECT will be one of two US institutions that will have a major role in an international multi-institution network that received a 4-year European Horizon 2020 grant. The network will collaborate on a project titled  “Thinking Rough Towards Sustainability” (e.THROUGH) led by faculty of the Portugal-based new University of Lisbon, Faculdade de Ciência e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT NOVA).  e.THROUGH supports international and intersectional research exchange between Northeastern University, FCT NOVA, Technical University of Denmark, and Universidad de Málaga, aimed towards developing advanced critical raw materials recovery and further reuse of residues in construction materials.

PROTECT Project 5 team expects to begin hosting researchers from the FCT NOVA in March 2018.  This program will strengthen PROTECT’s collaborative links with stakeholders and partners and foster innovation in sustainable construction materials. The visiting scholars will work under the supervision of Prof. Akram Alshawabkeh and Dr. Ljiljana Rajic.
